I just finished an instructor lead class that used the MS Press Learning Edition Step-By-Step series. I found it to be a great introduction to VB. If I needed to, I feel like I could develop an application in VB now. I think this package costs around the same thing ($150?). It comes with a crippled version of VB 6.0.
