Yes, it seems to me that the _only_ benefit of using views on VFP tables is that the code port more easily to SQL. There are no performance gains associated with views on VFP tables. And it wouldn't make sense to use ODBC to connect to a VFP table since that connection would be slower than using VFP's native connection.
