Holly--this depends on what version of Fox you have and what the grid data depends on. I ran into a rather funky problem with the grid data not disappearing in a parent/child table relationship. I checked the MSKB and found a squirrelly work-around--Say Thisform.visible =.f., then thisform.visible =.t.! It seemed to be the only thing at the time that would force it to refresh! Since then, I've done some, ehh, creative things with other grids, giving it focus(that seemed to clear it) after setting a created form property (like prpGridLoseFocus) to .t., then losing focus right away if that property was .t. (and then setting the property to .f., of course).

One of these should do it for you.
