This is simply based on my own observation and, therefore, may not be authoritative. It does, however, seem to work.

If you look at the items in the list presented in Step 2, you may not that not all controls appear there. For example, while the Common Dialogs Control does, the MS Calendar Control does not.

In this circumstance, I check the check box in the list. I copy the calendar control into the images directory, and indicate it as being ActiveX and in the system directory in Step 6. This seems to work.

As a matter of pure speculation, I belive what's going on here is that the Common Dialogs control has both a design and run time license while the calendar does not. Checking the check box in step 2 makes sure that it's properly registered. The calendar control, which only requires a license, gets registered as a result of step 6. It's been my experience that adding the Common Dialogs (for example) to the images directory doesn't work.
