>This is interesting. It must be a hardware/driver issue as you suspect. Our whole division has used NT for 2-3 years and we don't generally see these problems. Once your LAN guys get their heads on straight with NT you'll never go back. But you're right, NT is a different animal and I know a lot of people around here had to get some serious training to really administer it along with Novell to get us good operation. I'm not a LAN/NT expert so I can't really help you with this issue ...

>Ok ... I talked with a couple of our LAn guys and they gave me a couple tips to pass along to you that might help. If anyone more knowledgable on the subject is following this thread they may jump in with more. You may/may not know some/all of this, but ...

So you should make sure you manually install the proper video drivers since NT will probably load some sort of generic type driver by default. They said to be sure to use the "Test" button whenever you make manual changes to the video related items before saying "Ok". NT being sort of a stupid animal will blindly and happily set your 800x600 max resolution video card to 1600x1280 at your bidding. And, of course, you're hosed. BTDT. :-)

>Some of this stuff is common sense and you may know the rest, but these are the things they said to look at first. Of course, by now you've probably confused NT so bad with LoadCursor(), SetSystemcursor(), et. al. that nothing will ever work right again ... just kidding. :-)

Thanks - once I get a LAN person up here to get me back in to NT (see NT problem post :), I'll demonstrate the problem and see if they have any ideas. I think I ran into your #2 problem that caused the lockout - I've BTDT with the high res. and now found another way to hose NT by resetting the video mode. I'm used to Win9x, where you can foul things up all day and only have to reboot a lot of times - NT is more serious - with the VGA mode disabled by LAN, I'm completely locked out anytime I screw anything up...

Another question I started to ask George - how to you reset mouse pointers on NT? Mine comes with no CUR files. So there's no way I can find to reset one once I foul it up with my API code...unless I copy all the CURs from Win95. But is there some built in way to do this?
