The problem here is that a "lookup" textbox in a grid column would be problematic because textboxes, unlike combo boxes, do not have a DisplayValue.
Personally, I think there are other, much simpler, ways to solve the problem. If you don't want to create a parameterized view, you can always (as Mike suggested) set a relation into the lookup table.
FWIW, I have a bunch of custom textboxes and combo boxes created especially for use in grids. I have textboxes that do incremental searching in grids, move the cursor down a row instead of over a column when < ENTER > or < TAB > is pressed, etc. etc. There is a lot that you can do with custom grid controls < s >
