You can use the CopyFile() API to send a file directly to a printer, bypassing the Windows GDI. There's a FAQ entry on how to send a file to a print port that describes this in detail here on UT.

Realize that by using the Windows printer, the Windows GDI will get involved and do things to interpret the print stream from things like reportwriter based on its knowledge of fonts and the GDI printer interface - you will not be able to use report writer easily to create ASCII text streams to the printer.
