Databases,Tables, Views, Indexing and SQL syntax
I have doing some testing on the this problem. It seems that where the problem really exist is when I refresh the grid on the small result set. Everything seems to be fine on the larger sets. This application needs to be really fast since it is a system in which users are taking orders over the telephone and they will bark if it isn't fast. I've tried using view but that is too slow and I don't think an SQL statement would be any faster. Instead I being thinking of maintaining separate lookup table for each area. When they select an area I would refresh the grid. Does that sound like a better approach. From what I can figure out that when the grid refresh on the small set it must go thru the entire table? I'm not really sure what happens there. Thanks
