Is there such a thing as MS SQL specific command?
This is to clarify how ANSI-92 SQL commands differ from MS SQL specific commands. Is there such a thing as MS SQL specific commands? We wanted to have a scalable application no matter what Database will be used without modification. This concern was raised-up by one marketing personnel of ours regarding the compabitility of our accounting system - VFP/SQL Server to other Database platform. We used INNER JOIN, OUTER JOIN, FULL JOIN for most part of the application which I thought, these are MS SQL command specific which are not recognized by ORACLE database. We're thinking of an application that could run in either platform: SYBASE, INFORMIX, SQL SERVER, ORACLE, etc. This will only happen if we purely used ANSI-92 SQL commands in the entire application. What do you think folks? Or I am missing in the limbo now?
