Feb 22, 2000: IBM, Lotus, Motorola, Nokia, Palm Inc., Psion, Starfish Software and companies have devloped a protocol based on XML for synchronizing and tranfering data to/from and between mobile devices. The name literally means "sychonization markup language".

The SyncML Initiative is open for industry partners to join in developing the specification. "
