The issue I took was in the choices available for the survey. I don't fault the ISDN technology; the issue here is what most non-technical telecom users associate with ISDN. I know that there's more to ISDN than BRI; I doubt that 50% of the people on UT using it are fully aware of what detailed options are available via ISDN. If I didn't have to deal with it in detail, I probably wouldn't have a clue; I'm not nearly as up to speed on all the options of various DSL offerings.

>But, this survey was to mostly have a rough idea of the technology being used and not necessary the exact speed used by users. We came up with 5 choices. We couldn't put them all. When no choice fits the answer, the nearest one is always welcome.
>

OK, but then why not deal in broad categories - POTS, ISDN, xDSL, fat pipe via router on LAN, broadband/cable modem would've been a far more meaningful characterization of the technology in use to reach the net. BFD what 'speed' you connect at, or think you connect at.

>It's similar to the last one. We obtained a very good result for monitor resolutions. Even if some were not able to pick the exact choice, out of 1000, it's a pretty good result we can rely on. It was a surprise to see so many using 1024 and up. So, we needed that to confirm the development of a new upcoming cool feature on UT.

That's a good use for the survey; I'd be in favor of collecting similar statistics to help UT fit the user population.

I hate to be blunt and direct, but is this information just being used by you at UT to try to tune how UT is offered to the public, or is it being resold as well? If it is being resold, is pertinent identification of individuals providing the answers being offered as well? I'm asking this as a paying customer of UT who is already spammed to death, and who will object strenuously if my personal data is being offered up. I'll assume that failing to answer these queries indicates that it is being resold.
