We have a very good presentation at MFUG today.
Information Systems Resources McGill University
Trevor Garland and Rod Poujade present Integrating Word with VFP databases.
"We have developed a Class Library that encapsulates document generation and allows us to replace multi-step mailmerge with point-and-click instant documents. The service can be added to any VFP form simply by dropping a Visual Class onto a form.
The user locates a record of interest on a form, selects a document type from a list of templates on the toolbar and clicks either a Word or Email button to merge the data (fields and expressions) according to the template into a word document or email message. Users create templates and locate fields and expressions (which may result in text or an image) on the document template without programmer intervention.
In this presentation we will cover storing Word documents in VFP database general fields and manipulating the text within the 'doclets'. We will discuss the Word Object Model, the Visual Basic for Applications Editor, differences between handling collections in VBA and in VFP, and adding Microsoft Office support to the Visual FoxPro Framework."
