Michael, I got it to work only on (1) one field I inserted the same code slightly modifyed for the another table
and I get the following msg..

Function argument value, type, or count is invalid
below is the code:

sele sites
seek allt(this.value)
If !found()
wait wind "SITE# not found" NOWAIT
NODEFAULT &&will prevent the focus from leaving the entry box
Endif
thisform.refresh &&will update the display of field values

This code is in the lost focus of the SITENUM PROMPT.

Was I supposed to change something else besides the table name and the SITE#
in the err msg?
