>Excuse my ignorance Roi. Could you summarize what the story is about?
Sure. Somewhere around the year 2000 the Pyschlos attached the earth and killed most of the population. The pyschlos are an alien race who destroy the inhabitants and mine the planets dry. The book starts in the year 3000. Approx. 35 humans are left in the US. The live in the rocky mountains in colorado. One of the members of the tribe is Jonnie Goodboy Tyler, a headstrong 18 year old boy. He decides to take a trip into the plains (they are forbiden due to myths about monsters) and is promptly captured by a pyschlo security cheif Terl and held captive.
The pyschlos are cruel, vicous and greedy, and Terl is the worst of the lot. The hunt humans for sport and torture them for fun. Terl finds a lode of gold in the mountains and wants to train humans to mine it for him (pychlos can't due to a reaction urainium in the area that cause them to explode).
That's about the first 100 pages. Jonnie plans to use Terl's training to destroy the pyschlos and save the human race. Terl plans to do the opposite. The book is a great read. If the movie is even half as good it just fantastic.
