This morning i went to reply, adding my opinion, and was stopped. I realized we would all agree it's a horrible situation and therefor adding more fuel to the fire wouldn't really help anyone. I understood the reason for freezing the thread.
It has turned into a censorship issue, freedom to discuss, rules, etc. That's not the point. Sysops are given authority to oversee the forums because they showed good judgement BEFORE an incident. In the 5 months i've been regularly reading the Foxpro forum, i've never seen a frozen thread before. The sysops are not fascist power mongers who censor anything they don't agree with.
The UT is as a more democratic entity than any political body i've ever seen. If a sysop freezes a thread, and you don't understand it or agree, just ask why. I would imagine that UT sysops are rational enough individuals to accept a criticism or change their minds in light of a good arguement. The sysop froze it with an implied understanding, "Let's not go there" Why does that create so much tension?
