>>>well, we'll probably move on to another candidate. he was a nice enough guy, but he told less then the truth on his resume. He said he had "extensive" exposure to VFP. We are willing to pay good salary (about 50k for only 1.5 - 2 yrs experience) so, we need someone who is a little more competant.

>>Wow! I wish I lived in Texas. I've got a little over 2 years experience, 99% in VFP, and I don't make anywhere near that.

>Seeing 50k for <2 years experience is pretty damn good. But I live in an area where that house would cost 130 -> 180 grand depending on the area. That house would be 1000 a year in Taxes, there is no State income tax. Here in Memphis the rush hour traffic slows down to 45 or 50.

Michelle/Stephen,

No state income tax in TX. Housing is reasonable, depending on which area you choose to live (even the most expensive aren't as bad as anywhere in CA or NY, for example). Salaries for VFP -- heck, for all IT -- are *excellent*. Jobs (and contracts) are plentiful -- in fact, there's work going begging because the developers are all busy.

I wanted to go back to VA this year, but with the salaries I can't afford to leave (g). Ask David Frankenbach -- he just moved from VA to Austin, TX.
