> Is there any book out there that does this? I am not capapble (yet!) to write such a book, I am looking for one and suggesting it.
I'm kinda thinking that The Fundamentals (yeah, by me) would fit the bill... The first section explains the basic language, and second covers the tools, and the third builds a simple LAN app. Then section 4 adds in the extras (advanced tools, developer productivity), and section 5 dips ones' toe in the Visual Studio world.
I'm working on a couple of additional chapters that will convert the LAN app to C/S and then to a Web interface (but they're slow going and I didn't want to hold up the book, which had already been ridiculously late) to finish those.
Once you're comfortable with what's in The Fundamentals, then you progess on to Effective Techniques (for advanced techniques) and Hacker's Guide (to answer those questions on how does a particular thing Really work.)
Then the other books we've got, as well as Paddock and Petersen's, to cover, in depth, more advanced, specialized topics.
