I wholeheartedly disagree with your entire take on this subject. Taking your ideas to the extreme we would stop all public schools because some kid might go wrong someday.

As for the "protection" of school children from fear, well they get bombarded on the evening news with it. I am sure it was the topic of discussion in many schools for the obvious reasons.

Chatter is chatter, that is no particular subject at all. It should not be censured with prejudice. It also so happens that I disagree with John that the thread was going anywhere untoward at all. A posting of outrage about the incident in the news, and a few replies of an ironic nature, does not seem like the fodder of disruption to me. As a matter of fact, I would be willing to bet that if the thread wasn't frozen it would have gotten much less attention than it has. That would make freezing it the indirect cause of the very thing that freezing it was trying to prevent.
