Just some rambling thoughts about JimB's "water cooler theory" of the Chatter section....
I believe wholeheartedly that Chatter is necessary for our widely-dispersed Fox family to have a place to "hang out", lighten up, smile, encourage each other, toss around ideas, and generally enjoy being friends.
The Chatter rules seem a bit strange and interpreting them correctly is a challenge. For example, the rules state:
No joke message is allowed. Posting a joke online is totally unrelated to the content of a Universal Thread forum. And also:
When doing a joke, make sure you use the appropriate acronym. This will make sure the destinator will know that you're are joking. You can access the list of acronyms from the main page menu. From this it seems that posting a joke is wrong, but doing a joke is OK if you put a smiley face on it. In other words, no "jokes", but properly designated "joking" is OK.
Since poetry and puns are not specifically banned, I'll assume that Friday fun that is related to the topics of programming, UT, VFP, MS, OOP, etc, is OK -- although I'm sure some of you are thinking, "Your poetry is a joke".
Surely we're not expected to turn our Fox family recreation room into a dreary, drab, serious and dull place. Surely they jest!
What's your take on it?
