Hi Don,
I've worked with 3 of 9 barcode for a warehouse application. The barcodes were printed on address labels and were subject to a fair amount of handling. They scanned fine. Sometimes the barcodes became smudged but were still able to be scanned, so I imagine that faxing would be ok. ( But don't quote me on that ). On the issue of adding the carriage return, The scanners I wrote the App for were Symbol Technology scanners and they came with a book which allowed their settings to be changed. You just scanned the book with the scanner on the appropriate code and the scanners defaults were changed. One of the codes in the book was to add a carriage return when the barcode was scanned.
Hope this helps,
Gavin...
>I am writing a business application and part of it is to produce a purchase order with the vendors part numbers barcoded. I understand that code 39 or 3 of 9 would be a good standard. I am wondering if this purchase order is faxed to the vendor will the bar code be still of a good enough quality for the wand scanner to work properly. is there a font set available that would be better for my application ?
> another question I have is, should I add a "+" to the end of the part number so the wand scanner sends a carrage return to the computer after the part number is scanned?
