We are about to re-structure one of our flagship application to make it scalable to higher dimension of DBMS. It is our intention that our databases in VFP platform can be upsized to SQL Server without much pain in the long run. Are we going to create in each table a field that will contain unique values which will serve as surrogate key. If yes, is it a string/character or integer type? Please guide me...
