We've found simular problems with registering on some Windows 95 installs. The solution was to install the MFC42.DLL that comes with CR. I'ts known that the CPEAUT32.dll doesn' register with older MFC42.DLL (or without it) files. I'm not sure if this is your problem since it regards a W98 SE install.
