When you schedule a package to run from within SQLServerAgent, it runs on the machine that SQL Server is installed on and under the account that you've configured SQLServerAgent to start.

Do you know if it was trying to connect to the server on the local machine or another? Also, try reconfiguring SQLServerAgent to use a domain account instead of the Local System Account.
