Ok,
first - after battling with it for a week - I have come to the awful conclusion that VFP MAc 3.0 is simply NOT going to work with SQL 7. I 'm not sure if the problem is in the middleware ODBC or VFP itself - but it just ain't happening and whatever effort it would take to make it MAYBE happen isn't worth it since I need to switch to something else anyway given the non-support of Mac VFP
So -here is the 64K question:
If you HAD to build a small app on a mac as a front end to a SQL 7 database what would you use? Here are my criteria:
1 - HTML/Web is attractive but I don't see it giving me the visual appeal or speed I need - with grids, etc.
2 - I need something EASY TO LEARN and RAD
3- it must be stable and distributable as part of my Vertical App
4 - Something that is and will be (likely) supported and upgrade for awhile
My main contenders at this point are Real Basic and 4th Dimension. Any thoughts on these or other dev apps for Mac?
thanks,
Ken
