>How did VFP optimize the server side ?
Sorry should have gone into more detail. I was thinking you could actually put VFP and shared tables on separate (NT) machine.(I know you are on Novell) You would have a very simple com object on the majine that would respond to ODBC requests. (West wind already sell such objects at a very reasonable cost for use on Internet back ends -- so you would not need to write it yourself).
But you still would have to restructure your app to a major extent. The restructuring effort would be about the same as restructuring for a SQl server back end -- but if you can live with VFPs level of relaiblity (and apparently you have just fine) you would have a back end whose administration you are already familiar with.
Anyway -- just a thought -- not neccesarily the way you want to go.
