The end-user might not have their email program set "Send immediately" or to dialup and connect if not already connected. Or they may cancel out of the dialup dialog. So there's just no way to be sure the email made it off their box, until it gets to the Sent folder. And I guess they might not be configured to use a Sent folder either so there isn't too much you can do to guarantee what you are trying to do.
