I just saw a C++ Builder demo. WOW!!, blazing speed
it took our VFP form over 6 minutes to read and process little over 8 thousand sales records. C++ Builder form took less then 3 minutes.

Both front-end was accessing Oracle database via ODBC connection.

Now the bad news for C++ Builder. It took about twice the time for C++ Builder programmer to build his front end. But, I have to say the speed and the controls were quite impressive.
