Stephanie,

I also have a BS CS. We learned very little (in depth knowledge) about any particular programming language, instead spending our time on more theoretical stuff. Of course this varies from school to school as to whether they are attempting to prepare yout to get a job or to enter a graduate program.

In contrast, the certification exams test knowledge about a particular platform, in this case VFP.

I found that the process of studying for the Beta exams took me into areas of VFP that I would never enter in the course of my job. It was a great opportunity to learn something new. Also, passing the exam was a great confidence builder, and offered one more somewhat objective way to measure my ability/knowledge compared to other folks here.

Lots of folks *don't* have computer science degrees. You can read the discussion about that in "Computer science degree and Foxpro" (Thread #243740 Message #243740 on 07/20/1999 15:13:37)

>Thanks a million, Steph.
