Easiest way would be to set a breakpoint in the debug on set('filter'). I've been suprised on a couple of instances to discover that there WERE filters active in software I've inherited.
Well then, to take a step back - do these commands work from the command window? If so, have you tried copying and pasting the commands into your program? If not, you could try the copy to .txt, append from .txt suggested by David Stevenson, but it seems a long way to go for a simple command.
