I think that the latter has some merit in view of the fact that Easter is based on the time of year that the Paschal moon occurs. This is not to say, however, that the other approach is without it. I originally wrote the routine as a basis for a liturgical reference application. Once you know the date of Easter, other religious holidays, and seasons fall into place. Wait a second, you also need to know the date of Christmas, but since it's not movable, it really isn't a problem.
For my application, the date of Easter is critical. During the course of the religious year the time of the year, and in some cases the length of four of the five seasons depend on it.
