Let me start with a disclaimer...I am not much of a fan on views.

If you want control over communication flow between SQL7 and VFP then views are not the ideal solution. A remote view is a slick solution when the project requirements are not too severe.

If you want program control over the comm link SPT is the better solution. It is much more programming intensive but you can change link parameters, monitor & control record transfers etc.
