Worpad is an OLE Server - if no other program has registered to service the file extension .DOC, it will be used by ShyellExecute() to open .DOC files, and will service General fields with a DOC type.

Wordpad does not understand Word documents formatted later than the Word 6.0 format. It will not be able to handle Word 97/Word 2000 format .DOC files unless they were specifically saved in the Word 6.0 format.

Wordpad is not an automation server. No VBA, no macros, no object model to manipulate, no mail merge, etc.
