You were way ahead of your time Mike... Interestingly I had a simmilar approach that involved dividing both sides by Infinite.
Since my teacher always said that 1/0 = infinite, I figured that
1/infinite = 0, but then the teacher stated that you can't say that
1/infinite = 1/infinite because infinite is an "unknown" number and the statement was false. At the time it made me mad.
Then, years later, reading here and there, I found the "aleph's"; meta-infinite numbers and it all fell in place.
