Yes, there are other ways.

First, make sure the AutoYield Property of the _VFP object is set to .F.. Anytime you use ActiveX Components, AutoYield should be set to .F.. Next, when you need to make sure any pending events fire, issue the DoEvents Command. This will force any pending events to fire.
