Thanks for your reply. I am doing things the way you suggested and using a menu exit option to do all the shutdown stuff.

What the users want is to be able to run several forms/progs at the same time from the menu options. This all works OK but what I need to do is either disable the menu EXIT option until there are no forms/progs running, or in the menu Exit option I need to detect if anything else is running and if it is to stop the shutdown. Hope this makes sense. Would be grateful for any further suggestions.

I have tried Mo's solution but always get something back in WONTOP(). Maybe this won't happen when I run it as an exe.
