Regular Expression syntax is pretty much the same within implementations - there are slight variations based on supported characters sets, but there's a standard, portable set of regular expression syntax that ports cross-platform at least as well as 100% pure Java ports cross-platform. In fact, the VBScript.RegExp implements the native Java regular expression syntax.
