Hi all,
We've got Visual SourceSafe installed on our LAN here in Framingham, MA and it's performance is OK but when I try to do anything with VSS over our WAN at the west coast office the amount of time it takes to bring up a source-controlled project is unacceptable.
My boss suggested that we do a separate VSS install out there and then use the "synching-up" feature to synchronize both VSS databases and source code. Is there such a thing? What are my options for doing an independent installation of SourceSafe and then synchronizing both groups of source code over the WAN?
I searched the Microsoft knowledge base and looked at every single Visual SourceSafe KB article and found nothing about VSS WAN deployment strategies (or Web deployment or remote deployment or ANYTHING)
Any suggestions from VSS users?
Thanks!
