I've run into a similar problem. I ran gendbc and cut the doce that creates the view and run it before loading the view. That seems to solve it, and I no longer have that problem. the Oracle tables still use VARCHAR2 fields. The conflict is that Oracle uses variable width fields for it's varchars, while Fox uses fixed width.
