I did mention that the code sucks. :)

As bad as SBT is, I've come to realize over the last year that there's nothing better out there. When it comes to deciding between something that's easy for the developers or good for the users, I'll take the latter. I hate modifying SBT, and I really, really wish there was something better. But there's not. So until there is, I'll reccomend SBT to anyone needing an accounting package with full source.
