Interesting approach, but AFAIK, the VALID of the grid won't fire unless the user was in the grid, so putting my code in the VALID accomplishes the same thing.

>You can try setting a form property to .t. in the WHEN event of the grid ( this should let you know when you're in the grid), then set the same property to .f. in the VALID event( this should let you know when you've left the grid.
