I disagree about attending the developer classes. I have found that the classes are very helpful. Of course I've always taken the classes in San Refael and have had the same teacher each time. They recently lengthened the course to 5 days. We took a in depth look at the framework and made many changes to classes changing the UI. This included adding fields, indexes, new text boxes on forms, creating new tables which we added new fields to forms. All were done using OOP classes. We even added forms, changed colors for toolbar backgrounds based on user input.
All mods now are saved in DBF's which means most of the mods will upgrade with the next version.
If you are doing big mods you most likely are creating a stand-alone module. If this is the case SBT provides a easy way to pass data from your module to the AR,AP,PR,SO, AND GL modules.
Generally, SBT is behind the programming curve but it works. And it continues to get better.
