The one thing I have to say about this is that I've now heard similar comments about Advisor Pubs from JVP, the people sponsoring the Devcon in NO, and people who are vendors at Devons.

Advisor Pubs doesn't come across as being a friend of the developer community. They make decisions purely and totally in a business context. In a very selfish business context, I might add.

During this year I have now heard from the 3 different groups I mentioned:

From the people sponsoring NO - Advisor Pubs in not interested in advancing the developer community as far foward as they could. The topics at NO were decided by a committee made up of organizers as well as speakers. The time for the NO Devcon was picked on purpose, so it could be at the same time as the SQL and MS Office Devcons. An invaluable opportunity in my opinion.

From vendors at Devcons - Advisor will not allow pre and post conference sessions, they see them as competition. The sponsers of NO will pay for an extra nites stay at the hotel, if you sign up for 2 pre or post sessions.

JVP - The powers that be don't seem to be as totally committed to bringing FPA into the future as they could be.

This last one is also evident by the discussions here about VBPJ. I have never heard anyone here ever mention any Advisor pubs that have to do with VB / Office.

>I would also like to remind everyone here that the content of these magazines comes almost exclusively from members of the developer community. If you want to see more of something in print, and you know enough to write an article do it. If you want to more of something you don't know about, let the magazines know. For the most part, the editorial staff of these magazines attempts to follow trends in development, and choose articles that will cater to the public interest as they perceive it. It is up to us as developers to make the trends known, and provide content when we can.
