The only reason I am looking into this is I have a data entry intense app that needs to detect duplicates. The user does not want to have a messagebox or anything like that coming up and interrupting entry. However, what I want is to play a warning sound to alert them that a duplicate was detected. In many cases the duplicates are legitimate and stopping the user every time would be extremely annoying for them. I would want to only be sure that the sound could be heard and then set the volume back to what it was. This may seem odd, but "The user is always right" :)
