Somewhere between a rank novice and a world-class expert, you think there is some ground in the middle.

As far as being dependent on who the book is aimed, I don't see that at all as being valid. Are you saying that if the book is aimed at a beginner, the TE does not need to be as skilled as the TE of a more advanced book.

Sorry, I reject that philosophy. That is the stuff that crap-books are made of..
