It looks like the filter actually checks the XSL page referenced in the XML document to decide how to transform it. It basically does on the server what would usually be done on the client. Additionally, it can be configured to use different sheets (or none) for different user agents. So this looks like a pretty cool tool. Thanks for the heads up.
