Title:
Why upgrade from VFP 5 to VFP 6
I have a client who uses VFP 5 for a LAN based network. They have no interest in any kind of internet or intranet. They do not even require screens that make things as simple as possible for the end user. As long as an application is "operational" on a minimum level they are happy. They do not use any other Visual Studio tools and do not plan on it. The network consists of 20 machines and NT Server 4. They refuse to allow the use of an application framework because in their opinion it will make it harder to find a replacement VFP programmer.
I am trying to come up with solid reasons why they should move to VFP 6.
So far I can only come up with :
Building indexes in VFP6 is three times faster than VFP 5(they have some tables around 10 million records)
Scroll bars on the side of forms can makes things easier for end users
VFP 6 has a built in framework that can be used for some things
In this kind of situation,
are there any other solid reasons for switching to VFP 6 that can improve things RIGHT NOW, not "if you expand in the future".
TIA
