>No, but implementing objective rules to prevent this is VERY difficult. We are working to devise a new system that will serve as the UT's 'OffRamp'- where we can send messages or threads when they have become questionable. I think that this will address most of the concerns, because then members can have a publicly stated policy that they don't participate in threads in this section.

You can witness an example of a censoring problem in action at ebay, and it's quite humorous, or at least would be, if it didn't interfere as much with ordinary posting.

Ebay tried censoring out a long list of "profane words" from all posts - but it's HTML, so spaces are not counted. So when someone had a post with:

"I wish it..." it was kicked out as profane because it had "SH*T" in it. Very confusing, and hard to locate in a long post, as there are no highlights. They tell you the naughty word, but not where it's located.

Recently I had a post with "who responded" somewhere in it kicked back as profane. I studied over it a while, and finally found "WH*RE" - a naughty word, and verboten :)

Really a mess, and makes you do contortions to express yourself. They finally made "sh*t" legal recently, after too many complaints, so the attempt at censoring is crumbling...
