I have used the MS Driver for Oracle almost exclusively now for 2 years. I have yet to come across a problem I could not resolve or work around. I had such a bad initial experience with the Oracle drivers with respect to MS front-end products, that I have used the MS drivers ever since. Maybe the Oracle drivers have improved significantly. A little experimentation may now be warranted. It is just hard to do when what you currently use works fine.
