The whole idea of having multiple sysops is that one can react if the others aren't available. The source of (perceived) paralysis is a structure that has a lot of gray areas when it comes to hot-button posts. We are trying to address this.

Meanwhile, we get our butts handed to us if we freeze threads, and get messages like the one that started this thread if we don't.

It's a shame that general class and comportment aren't enough, but that's as it is and what can you do about it?
