I am both troubled and intrigued by the recent discussions about community standards, censorship, freedom of speech, need to blow off steam, political correctness, off-ramps, insults, profanity and vulgarity.
I am not naive. I've been around and seen and heard a lot of things. But I am amazed at the intensity with which some here seem to be attacking long-established concepts of dignity, respect, courtesy, modesty, self-control and honor.
So I'm wondering if there is perhaps a fuzzy dividing line in time that marks that sea-change of attitudes. Those on one side of the line see the change very clearly. Those on the other side may not even comprehend the comparison.
There may be something to this, although I don't think for a minute that it's the *only* explanation. For example, my 9-year-old son is learning in Cub Scouts about many of the traits I have listed above, so he would be an exception to the age idea.
But age and generational outlook are the questions of the moment for this thread.

I will *respect* your right not to reveal that information, and I will not associate any names with any conclusions that I reach from this limited research.
